My first post that is not really from my journey but an explanation of where I am right now and where things will go...
This is my first post. I´ve been documenting my journey since I first got on the Flyaway at the Union Station. It´s been crazy. I am currently in a small town just outside of another small (but bigger) town called La Merced. Internet access is scarce and the encampment I´m in is isolated from the community. In addition, most of our sessions end pretty late and by then, walking to the community is of no use if I am to try to communicate via email or by phone.
The encuentro ends tonight. By tomorrow, I will be in Quito where I hope to upload pictures to give you a visual of the encuentro. I will also post up my journal from Sunday until today.
for now, I sign off and hope to reach out soon.
con respeto,

A Message from Quito Ecuador

A reunion, a hug, a celebration
Very long ago, many rains before today, there was nothing but a Spirit who habited in heaven. Only He could create life. This Spirit made us brothers and sisters. He is the Spirit that incarnates the Eagle and the Condor. His wings cover us in the North; his wings warm us up in the South.
His eyes protect us from the hands of those who destroy and unbalance. His eyes support our struggles; they survey the accomplishment of the cycles.
Twenty years ago, many moons before today, the Condor and the Eagle looked to each other and they saw each other. Their faces touched each other; the struggles were felt at once as only one voice. They hugged to each other, they embraced us, and they found us. In 1990, there was held in Quito – Ecuador, the First Continental Encounter of the Indigenous People, the First Encounter of the First Nations from Abya-Yala. We, the sons and daughters from the Eagle and the Condor, were reunited. We, the sons and daughters of the Spirit of heaven, hugged to each other.
Now is the time of celebration. We reunite to celebrate the first hug, the recognition, the feeling of each other, and the knowing of each other. Twenty years later, our Spirits warm us up again, for the return of the Good Living. It is the time to defend what we found twenty years ago, it is time to defend what we have built. It is time to defend our struggle. Now we look to each other and we recognize each other again, we hold our hands, we dance in happiness… and we are ready to fight.
That is why we are all invited to come together, to celebrate. The Moon, the Sun, the Stars, the Wind, join together as we brothers and sisters will do in Quito – Ecuador, again for the reunion. Kuntur Anka Pachakutic.
The Condor and the Eagle for the retour of the Good Living!
The hug will be celebrated
